For fastening the legs there are two important aspects so that the supports will install correctly. Please trim posts so they the slide in snugly but without force. It's often best to take a support with you when choosing posts as they rarely are the exact same size. Also, please don't use nails as these are designed for fastening with traditional deck screws. There's several choices of deck screws available at home centers and hardware stores. Tighten the deck screws just snugly. Avoid over tightening as some drill drivers are very high in torque.
